new year

The Best Time to Begin Is Now

An old proverb says, “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.”

There is something wonderful and hopeful about the word now. There is something empowering about the fact that if we choose to decide now, we can move forward at this very moment.

Now is the best time to start becoming the person we eventually want to be—not only 20 years from now but also for all eternity.

Teaching from This Message

President Uchtdorf explained that when we fail to reach our goals, “we can be empowered. … Even though we might fall short of our finish line, just continuing the journey will make us greater than we were before.” Ask family members to share experiences in which they learned more from the process than they learned from the outcome, such as graduating from school or receiving an award.

Become Your Best Self—Starting Now

President Uchtdorf teaches that “personal goals can bring out the best in us.” Consider setting some goals in two or three areas of your life, such as physical health, spiritual health, and friendships, for example. What successes would you like to have in these areas this year? As you prayerfully think of some goals, make sure they are attainable but will require you to grow. In your journal, describe your goals in detail so that you will be able to see your progress when a year passes.

A new year is upon us with a lot of potential! I can't wait what is to come and the milestones and achievements. We are busy with our family of 6 but want to find purposeful activities and things to teach our children about coming unto Christ and that our family is forever. So blessed and grateful to be a mother and wife and hope to be patient and do my best every day!

texas

Well it has been a wonderful birthday week for Mya and I.  We got her ears pierced last week and she got to have a date with mom and bobba and molly! She was a happy gal shopping and feeling special.  She will be getting baptised next month and is very excited.
We celebrated early because I was leaving for texas on friday and missing her special day. We came to texas for Kyles wedding to Ginger! She is a great gal and has 3 beautiful daughters. So they have joining families and now are a total of 9! Kyle seems very happy and we had a great time being together and laughing and playing games. We ate delicious food and visited wonderful places. I am missing my kids at home and my husband and can't wait to see them.
Hudson is growing every day and squealing with delight to communicate and get attention.  Hazel and the cute guy were lucky to join us and had a fun time with all their aunts and uncles playing with them.
Brekin, Kennedi, Peyton, and McKay were gorgeous and had a great time with all of us and we loved having one on one time with them. I am so blessed to have my family and to not have to go through divorce. Such a hard time for these girls and a lot to take in. I pray they will be strong and communicate with their mom and dad to let them know what they are feeling.
I am thankful for this season and blessed to have all that I do. Here is do being better and serving others more!!!!

happenings

Well we had a busy summer and back to school in Aug.
Jaxson is in 5th grade with Mrs Norwood. He is doing very well and is a straight a student. He is always busy with soccer and baseball , fit club, choir, piano, homework, and playing Uno with his sisters!
He just got his arrow of light in cub scouts and had a birthday and now is in 11 year old scouts.  He is a sweet sweet boy and loves to be busy and garage sales every Saturday with his grandpa and dad!

Mya is loving 2nd grade and Mrs. Kaiser and she is a wonderful student and friend.  She has also been busy with fit club, hip hop cheer , cheer club @ school, and taking wonderful care of her new brother! She is turning 8 soon and will be baptised in the beginning of December.  She is so excited about her birthday week and will be having lots of special time with her aunts and Bobba and mom! She is a fantastic organizer and even though she does a very long thorough job she is mom's  biggest helper! She is the most tender sweet  girl always so compassionate and caring and we love her to pieces!

Whitney is our firecracker! She has had a busy summer and started her second year of preschool. Her teacher is Aunt Kiersten and she has a lot of her friends in her class. Emrie, Afton, Miles, Emmi, and Dillon are a few. She is a great smart cookie and know how to count and do beginning math.  She is great at coloring too! She has had a wonderful season of soccer for the first time and made a goal in the second to last game! She is so athletic and fast at running! She loves her baby brother and enjoys her special time with mom and dad while the kids are at school.

Hudson is 5 months old now and is the sweetest! He is starting to roll over a bunch and almost can sit by himself.  He is so funny and laughs a lot and rise to coo and talk to you. He is about 14 pounds and loves the bath and shower.  He sleeps with mom and dad still and loves to snuggle.  He started taking some rice cereal but no baby food yet.  He is loved and gets lots and lots of kisses from everyone in our family and we are so blessed to have him!

Dad has been working very hard on the business and hopes to grow even more in the next year.  He loves to coach the kids sports and is a great daddy when mom is at work.  He and Jaxson went on their first hunt together and shot an elk in the beginning of October.  What a proud dad he was of Jaxson and a great experience for both of them. We have a freezer full of meat 150 pounds thanks to them!

We have had a busy year of happiness and trials but are grateful for our savior and so blessed with all that we have. We are coming into the wonderful season of Thanksgiving and Christmas and I am so lucky to have the family that I do! Here's to slowing down a bit and remembering the true meaning of the year and serving those around us!

A lot has happened this year! We started our business, I worked full time, we had a sweet new baby, and we just started school with jaxson in 5th grade and mya in2nd. Whitney is in preschool at aunt kierstens and I am still off work until next week.
We had a busy summer with swim team for jaxson.  We went to the library a lot, had swim days at Bobby's every Friday, and had a wonderful trip to mexico with  all of our lichlyter family.  It was full of beach time, dance time, yummy food, and 14kids!! Very noisy but so many memories!
This sweet Hudson baby is in my arms right now sleeping soundly.  The kids will be home from school soon, and off to piano get dinner made and mutual tonight. I am the beehive advisor, and the girls are so sweet. So for now I just hold and stare at my last little baby he is growing so fast and will be 3 months soon. I love being a mom and hope everyday that I am good enough. I want them to be happy, friendly, know of the gospel and love it, we'll rounded kids.  I hope and pray daily for help and guidance!

Back to this journaling wish me luck!!

"...If we are to search for real light and eternal certainties, we have to pray as the ancients prayed. We are women now, not children, and we are expected to pray with maturity. The words most often used to describe urgent, prayerful labor are wrestle, plead, cry, and hunger. In some sense, prayer may be the hardest work we ever will engage in, and perhaps it should be." --Patricia Holland

I hope I can pray like this this week and help my children to pray more also!  Our heavenly father knows us and will help us if we ask.

Pondering

Our family has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years and has allowed us to grow closer and change some bad habits. We are pregnant with a sweet baby boy and due in May.  Our life has been different in that Adam has a primary house husband role and is doing very well with that.  He is also substitute teaching on my days off and trying to start up a home business.  He is a hard worker and is a super dad and loves our kids more than anything.  Their favorite time of the day is jumping on the trampoline after school.  They turn up the music really loud and jump and wrestle and play and laugh.  Those are the times I watch out the window and smile and cry and am so happy to see that joy!
I cry all the time lately and am very sensitive -HORMONES!!!!  I am so thankful for a good job and healthy children, and a home!
With this new year I would like to focus more on caring, praying, and serving others more. Mainly my own family but also those in our ward and our neighbors.
I would like to pray for more opportunities to serve and love others.  I want to teach my children to be as the savior would.
Here is to the new year and alot of new beginnings! I pray for help and guidance to do my best as a mom and wife and be patient and loving!
I am not so great with keeping up on this so my new years resolution is to make this a personal blog now. So  happy new year hope all is well!

WHITNEY IS 4!!!!!

                                                           Wearing her dad's clothes

Guess who turned 4 today!  This crazy girl!  She is the funniest, spunkiest, cutest, sweetest girl around.  We are so lucky she is in our family and we get to spoil her so much.  Today she woke up to all of her presents and we went for doughnuts at DD. Then we took the kids to school and she went to pick out her treats for her party.  She picked lofthouse cookies and also a juicy pop.  Who doesn't love candy at 830 am!!!! Well anything goes on the birthday right:) We went home to get ready and go to her PPP party with cousins, friends from church, friends from school and Bobba! What a treat to have so many people who love her the most share this special day.  She got a lot of great gifts and more candy!!!!!! She is now playing with big sister with her loot and the house is rather quiet.
She is such a character and actually told us this morning that we didn't get her very many presents! She was quickly coached that some kids get nothing and she should be grateful for anything she gets and to say thank you or the present fairy will take presents away too!
She continues to love music and dancing and just finished up gymnastics.
She loves babies and her newest cousin Hazel is one of her favorites!
She is growing up just like her sister and loves bags and stuff to fill the bag!
She loves sweets and will sneek, peek, and find them at all cost
She is a snuggle bug and knows how to stay up later than the other kids if she says she is afraid :) we always give in!!!
She loves pirate booty snacks and will eat 2-3 bags at a time and I continue to find the wrappings under the chairs or table hiding the evidence:)
She is a joy to be around sass and all and we wouldn't change her for anything!!!!!
Love you Buk Buk!!!!!!

Our first child with a broken bone!!! Mya was so brave last night as we sat in the urgent care for 4 hours waiting for and x-ray and to be seen.  She was so patient and quiet I think mostly out of fear:( She was playing dodge ball with her dad and brother as they have in our empty room for the past week.  Each time I am the nag of don't be too rough and this time they got the hint!  She couldn't move it and of course I was working and left early to go assess the damage.
We have a broken clavicle and she will be in a sling for 4-6 weeks.  She is so sweet unable to dress herself, eat some things, and wash her hair.  The things you take for granted are so easily taken from you in no time.  We have a baby again and will be dressing and bathing her until maybe she can learn some things with her left hand.  Her dad and brother were so concerned and sorry for the accident.  Things happen and I am so grateful it was only minor.  Love my sweet Mya! Got to spend most of the day on the couch and hang out love a day of rest!

Back to school back to school!

Lots of change and excitement and quiet time in my home today.  Yesterday was a great day.  The kids woke up so happy and energized we had breakfast and headed to school for pictures/video and quick goodbyes and this mama did great! Today we had a repeat but today we dropped the other kids and then it was our sweet Whitney's turn to go to preschool with one of our great friends as her teacher.  I knew she would be fine and she went right in and started playing with the activity and never looked back.  Change Change I do not do well with it at all.  Adam and I have been cleaning and watching the Olympics together, but I miss the "Mom, mom" more than I thought!  These sweet children grow up and will leave soon and my heart hurts for that.  I am so blessed to be there mom and teach them right and wrong.  I am so lucky to hear about their day and tuck them in at night and hear about their day even more.  I love being a mom and the happiness it brings to my soul.  Some days are truly rough but it is times of reflection that allow you to remember those amazing moments that you are doing a great job! Back to blogging wish me luck, got some time on my hands again!

Motherhood

Motherhood is movement.

It's up and down movement as we

pick up babies and socks and crayons and cheerios,

take laundry upstairs and down,

sit down and jump up ten times during dinner,

get up five times at night to solve nightmares and hunger and sickness

It's sideways movement as we go

from helping with homework to stirring the dinner,

from tucking one child in bed to tucking in the next,

from reading a story on the couch to doing crafts at the table,

from school to soccer to scouts to dance

It's circular, repetitive movement as we

do the same dishes and clean up the same messes

make the same favorite foods and read the same books

answer the same questions and mediate the same spats

Sometimes we wonder

Are we getting anywhere with all this movement?

Is there any forward movement involved

in the side-to-side, the up-and-down, the circular?

The up-and-down, back-and-forth, repetitive motion of water

wears off sharp edges

creates paths

exposes

soothes

gives life

The up-and-down, back-and-forth, repetitive motion of motherhood

refines us

as it wears off our rough spots

creates us

as it exposes our strengths and weaknesses

soothes us

as we learn that our best is good enough

gives us life

as we give life to others

and propels us ever forward

in a twisty, zig-zag path

towards the people we're really meant to be

I am so blessed to be a mom and had a great mothers day with my mom and mother in law and sweet kids!

thinking about things

"If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest times in life can be a blessing. In all conditions, we can choose the right with the guidance of the Spirit. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ to shape and guide our lives if we choose it. And with prophets revealing to us our place in the plan of salvation, we can live with perfect hope and a feeling of peace. We never need to feel that we are alone or unloved in the Lord’s service, because we never are. We can feel the love of God. The Savior has promised angels on our left and our right, to bear us up. And He always keeps His word."—President Henry B. Eyring, "Mountains to Climb", General Conference, Apr. 2012

LIfe

So this blog has been hanging out with out me paying much attention to it lately along with a bunch of other things. I have been working a lot and with that trying to make life happen. I also have been emotional with movies, lessons at church, and some of my patients at work.
I have had some sweet patients and very sad situations lately and it has made me think about things even more. I do love my job and witnessing little miracles frequently as one patient survived a drowning, and another hopped out of bed after having her appendix rupture with a big smile to brighten anyone's day. I only see these things and thank God that I can be touched by their sweet lives. These examples along with my own children, seeing Whitney get so excited today filling eggs with candy to deliver some Easter bags. She was so excited picking who we should take them to , and running up to the door all by herself. I am so blessed!
I was so touched this past Sunday by our lesson on life and the trials one faces and how through life we must show charity and witness and endure. How tough this life is sometimes and how grateful I am to have the scriptures and prophets to guide us. I was so moved by a story of a man who had suffered many years from cancer and was waiting to receive a blessing and as the man came to give it found the fragile man laying on top of his neatly made bed all dressing in his best shirt and tie. He stated he was ready to continue the work on the other side after the blessing. I though about this and if I am ready for that and if I am doing my part to be the best I can be.
I have been running low on energy and sleep, and have been short with my kids and husband at times. These are the times when I need to do more. They need to see love and patience and be uplifted so they can do so to others.

Crazy

So the new year is here and we have continued to be a little crazy!!!!! Life is going in full force and back to school has begun. Christmas, decorating, cookie making, 12 days, lights, concerts, and piano recitals have happened and been so great! 2011 was a great year of growth and memories and happiness! I cannot wait to see what 2012 brings but I can actually. Life is moving at a speed too fast for me to take lately. I will have a 10year old this year :( I will get one year closer to 40 and hopefully a little wiser too~ I have been trying to cherish moments of snuggling with my sweet 3 year old and reading one extra story at night, I am intently listening to my oldest tell me about a lego hero and a crazy story to tell, I am enjoying time with my sweet husband and lunch dates and more dance classes. I have seen lives that aren't even comparable to the massive blessings I enjoy~ I have noticed great heartache with families that I have worked with lately and wish to help them all! We had a sweet housekeeper that works on the pediatric floor and we were able to give her a huge meal and gfts for all 3 of her children and her. People are charitable and she was overwhelmed with gratitude.

GRATITUDE
people speak about their word for the year gratitude is mine this year and showing it as well as helping others!
Happy new year hopefully I can catch up soon but I need to listen to my sweet kids and their exciting day rose and thorns:)

Lazy Days

SO the last 2 days have been great lazy days at home. I have stayed in my PJ's and listened to Christmas music and organized, decorated, and wrapped. I sure love this side kick i have and all of her sweet comments and snuggles. Today she wanted to watch Dora and we sat on the couch and went back to sleep for an hour! It was fabulous and sweet! We also had a swing/trampoline time and did "under dogs" for an hour. She and Mya could swing for days:) We played a game on the tramp where I was sleeping and she sang a song, "sleeping dragon count to five and come alive" then I woke up and grabbed her. We got our tree up tonight and decorated and it looks beautiful! I sure love the little things of the season and am so thankful for days like today to remind me to slow down.
